I have dreamed of becoming a published author for the better part of a decade and while this is not exactly the same thing, it is a step towards that dream. So before you get to the content, thank you.

The Goal
You may read the title of this blog, “The Modern Mark Twain” and think that I am putting myself on a lofty pedestal. Rest assured, I do not think that I am as creative, important, or brilliant as Mark Twain. Instead, I wanted to develop an alias that would allow me to pursue the type of writing I want, while remaining anonymous.
I discovered the writings of Mark Twain somewhat recently in my life, but I was immediately inspired by his writing style. In this blog, I hope to echo his humor, his wit, and his propensity for criticizing the world as he saw it. I will do all of this, but you will realize very soon that the only voice will be my own. I am not trying to mimic the legend. I merely hope that my words and my unique style will remind you vaguely of the master.

What to Expect
This blog exists for one purpose and one purpose only: short fiction.
My intention is to write and publish one new short story per week. The most recent story will be featured on the website header, while the rest will be housed in the hub labeled “Short Stories”. Every story is intended to exist on its own and will address one of any number of topics. I do not want to delve too deeply into my personal life, but I was in marching band, I’ve been a middle school English Teacher, and I have a deep love of history. It is a safe bet that most stories will reflect on some of these personal life experiences.
